The front headlight cluster shares a single protective glass, while the body silhouette grew more streamlined, with an elegant line flowing up from the front wing and smoothly going down to the trunk.

BMW Е36 Touring Interior

Specific Features of E36 TouringThe BMW 3-Series Touring confirmed the assumption that the image is what's important. For the 3-Series, essential was the price / performance ratio reinforced by German assembly quality. Stoppages were rare and sometimes affected central locking, sunroof control and electric windows. Small interior and boot capacity were compensated by the folding rear bench seat, which allowed for increasing the loading space.

Specific Features of E36 TouringThe BMW E36 Touring features a varied engine palette, with each powerplant being rather successful. Automotive enthusiasts were offered the following aggregates to choose from:
  • 320i – 2.0L / 150 hp;
  • 325i, 323i — 2.5L / 192 / 170 hp;
  • 328i — 2.8L / 193 hp;
  • 325td, tds — 2.5L / 143 hp;
  • 318tds — 1.7L / 90 hp.

The first three engines use petrol: the 320i is distinguished with high reliability and great endurance; the 323i is a derated version designed for Europe, which complied with the higher environment protection standards, the 325i is the powerful version with similar specifications; the 328i is the most powerful engine, which ensured best dynamic characteristics and allowed the driver to enjoy the ride to the full extent.

The latter two motors consume diesel fuel and are characterized by good fuel economy. The modest power output of the 318tds suits great for in-town commutes and excludes friskiness, while the 325 allows to try out the sportive abilities of the car.
